About
Jyoti Supernaturel is a French multi-instrumentalist and contact juggler. He plays didgeridoo, shehnai and sitar, balances crystal balls on his body and records long-form world music. His album Miracle of Balance came out in 2021. On his 2018 Artisti in Piazza festival card Jyoti lists himself as a yogi, equilibrist, contact juggler, illusionist, capoeirista, composer and multi-instrumentalist. By his own account he has performed for 17 years at street festivals and concerts in Europe and Asia. He learned the crystal ball by watching a performer in South America, took up capoeira on the same continent and still practises it. He says he had no formal training in yoga or kung-fu and built his own method. His Instagram profile lists didgeridoo, shehnai, a traditional African drum, an Indian sitar, berimbau and an analogue synthesizer. He collects instruments on his travels and plays often in India, where small improvised gigs with friends serve him as rehearsals. An Artifex editor described his May 2015 concert on Ko Pha Ngan, where flutes, didgeridoo, African percussion and sitar sounded alongside the crystal balls. The stage work began on the street. In an interview with Artifex he recalls evenings in Thailand when the crowd grew so dense that traffic stopped. About ten years before that 2018 conversation he flew from India to Moscow, and later he played in Moscow, St Petersburg and at an airfield in Ryazan. The festival card names two programmes: Miracle of Balance, 20 minutes of balancing with crystal balls, and an illusion show with cards and coins that runs 40 minutes. He also describes a concert format that joins music and crystal balls, and he says he cannot imagine the act without music. Miracle of Balance reached streaming services on 12 November 2021 on the Exodus Creative Lab imprint. It has seven tracks and runs two hours and twenty-five minutes, with Hublo alone lasting one hour and twenty-two minutes. Jyoti was a featured artist on The Shaman's Prophecy by ELENKRIG (Miniatures Records, 2020) and recorded the four-part Supernatural Jam in 2021. On 7 April 2025 he joined Tetouze, whom he named among his partners in 2018, on the track Rift from the single The Goanishads (Labo Logic). A programme from Jyoti puts sound and crystal balls on one stage. The 2018 card describes balancing numbers, card and coin illusions and a concert in which the music accompanies the balls, and the album shows how long he lets a piece run.
